WheelsUp Magazine Cover Illustration
Editorial Art Director commissioned WheelsUp Magazine Illustration. This publisher produces custom magazines, mostly for military clients, and they have been envisioning the cover of a new publication, which meant to go out to the children of Soldiers who were deployed with the Air National Guard. The purpose of this expublication is to help the children cope with and understand their parent’s deployment better.
The military of the United States is deploying troops in more than 150 countries around the world. There are approximately 170,020 of its active-duty personnel serving outside the United States and its territories.
WheelsUp Magazine map Illustration points to just a few locations. It was essential to explain to the children of those deployed soldiers that their moms or dads are maybe far away, but not out of reach. The Earth is not such a large planet after all, and their parents are the patriots who are serving our country abroad to protect them (the children).
The publisher has decided to put a globe on our cover. When they were searching for illustration techniques and illustrators, the Design Director found Rabinky Art, LLC website full of gorgeous maps! They realized this might be a bit different than what we usually do, but they hoped it would be a project that they may consider. The main point was that they would need a realistic enough looking jet, modeled after a C-130, flying from somewhere in North America to somewhere loosely located in the middle east. On the WheelsUp Magazine Illustration, the designer ultimately left out all of Europe, which they would not want to do.
WheelsUp Magazine Cover Illustration is showing a little distorted world map, but that concept was the best way to show the children where their deployed moms and dads are located on the planet Earth.
